St Antony’s CMI Bhavan, Puthuppally is situated about 400 Meters from the Rubber Board Junction in Kottayam-Karukachal Road. A small residence in the name of St Antony was started on February 28, 1925. During 1950s Fr Ambrose Palakkunel and Fr Ephrem Kalapurackal made efforts to renovate the centre which was raised to the status of a house on June 13, 1956. The house was raised to the status of a monastery in April 1960. In 1968, it became the Provincial House of the CMI St Joseph Province and after 22 years, when the Provincial House was shifted back to Kottayam, it was renamed as St Antony’s CMI Bhavan. Attached to the Ashram is St Antony’s Church, which is a parish with approximately 450 families under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry. St Antony’s Vishachikilsalayam founded by Bro. Simon Moolakatt in 1930 has been a place of hope for the hopeless patients suffering from snake bites. Recently an Ayurveda Hospital was started in the same campus and it was blessed on July 3, 2021. Following the resolution of the Provincial Synaxis in 1999, an ICSE School, namely Darsana CMI International School was started in the campus under the Corporate Management of the Province and was inaugurated on June 11, 2001.
