The centre was established in the Cardamom plantation of the Province at Companypady. In 1999, Fr Joseph Valiyathazhath came up with the vision of Navadarsanagram and began to make use of the residential facilities available in the estate for materializing his vision to fight against the growing social menaces such as alcoholism, drug abuses, gender discriminations, family discords and suicide tendencies, especially among the migrants in Idukki district. More than 10 thousand of families have undergone treatment in this centre till now and 65 percentage of them are doing follow up and leading sober life. This institution is currently cerified by Kerala State Mental Health Authority and Orphanage Control Board of Kerala.
