Mar Thoma Bhavan, Ponneruthanparappu, the long-cherished dream of Fr Honorius Vaniyapurackal realized, is situated on the Ponneruthanparappu-Upputhara road. As early as 1960, he had bought a small plot of land (70 Cents) for an ashram and in 1975 he appealed to the Provincial Council to buy another plot of land. In 1978, Fr Honorius was given permission to buy another plot of land adjacent to the plot already possessed. On March 15, 1978 Mar Joseph Powathil, Bishop of Kanjirappally granted permission to start a residence at the site. The newly built house and chapel were blessed on December 18, 1981 by Mar Joseph Powathil. Another plot of nearly 3 acres of land facing the Upputhara Bridge was bought in 1980 wherein the headquarters of Vikas Yojana Social Service Society was later designed and constructed. The newly constructed ashram was blessed on March 19, 2018. In early 90’s, the new spiritual movement of charismatic prayer and retreats found a favourable climate at Parappu with the dynamic involvement of Fr Abraham Puthiath. In 1996, Chavara Renewal Centre was started for the spiritual uplift of the people near and far.
