Vikas Vidyalaya, special school for the differently abled children and youth is the result of the lifelong dedication of its founder, Fr Mathew Walter Madathumuriyil CMI. It was originally started at St Thomas Centre in Sastri Road, Kottayam, on June 2, 1985, with an extension centre for vocational training at Lions Club building near railway station, Kottayam. Intending to provide more facilities for the activities of the school, the property at Chelliozhikkam was sold and the school was functioning both at Lions Club building and St Antony’s Ashram, Puthuppally. In order to fulfil the dream of a permanent campus a plot of land (44.5 cents) was bought at Mullankuzhy, near railway station in 2015. The construction of the new building was started in 2016 and blessed in 2018.
