Chavara Ashram is situated in the heart of the Kattappana Town, one of the most beautiful and the centre city in High Range. In 1976, a plot of land was acquired in the town with a view to begin a branch of Sanjose Book Stall, Mannanam at Kattappana. In the year 1979-80, after the bifurcation, Province purchased about 3 acres of land and was kept under the supervision of the Director of the Deepika Book House, Kottayam and the house at Puliyanmala. There was a small house in the property and after the necessary renovation made it as a residence from April 10, 1985. On January 3, 1994 Deepika Book House, which was operating in a rented building, was shifted to the newly constructed building - Chavara Arcade, Kattapana. An extension centre of Darsana Academy, Kottayam in the Arcade was started on August 25, 2010. The new chapel was constructed in 2020.
