Foundation stone for Novitiate House was laid on October 1, 1980. Mar Sebastian Vayalil, Bishop of Pala blessed and inaugurated the Novitiate House on June 18, 1982. The initial name of the novitiate house was Sacred Heart Training Institute. The name itself proclaims the goal of the training, namely, to transform the heart of each trainee into that of Jesus. Later the name was changed into Darsana Bhavan. The shift in the spiritual nuance was that the novices are living in a house where they are disciplining themselves to see Jesus and Jesus alone, so that they could sing with the Psalmist in loving wonder that it is good to live in the house of God (Darsanaveed).
