The inspiration for Kristu Jayanti came in 1993, when 8.5 acres of agricultural land was purchased at K. Narayanapuram, Kothanur, Bengaluru. The first residence, called CMI Ashram was blessed on January 18, 1994. Later a more convenient residence was built and was blessed by Archbishop Ignatius Pinto on March 19, 1999. The CMI Ashram is very much involved in the pastoral care of the Syro-Malabar Catholics from the very beginning. Kristu Jayanti College was started on September 27, 1999. The College is affiliated to Bengaluru North University and is reaccredited with grade 'A++' in 2021 by NAAC in the Third Cycle of Accreditation with a CGPA of 3.78 which is the second highest in India. The college is recognized by UGC under the category 2(f) & 12(B). The College has been accorded Autonomous Status since 2013 by the University Grants Commission, the Government of Karnataka & Bangalore University. To enhance the grandeur of the campus, a new humanities block was constructed, which includes the CMI Ashram and the college chapel and was blessed on February 10, 2024.
